Review of school pickup/dropoff

• Presentation: school_escorting_implementation_pt4.pptx
• Pull request is out, and all tests are passing now
• Added extra logging that includes reporting the maximum number of tours
• Still getting a few errors related to scheduling that haven’t been figured out
• Next steps is to go into the calibration part of the implementation
• Preliminary results
  • Compared SANDAG results with MTC Extended
  • MTC Extended has a slightly higher overall escorting rate (20% of households, vs 14% in SANDAG)
  • In MTC extended example, 50% of escorting tours are created by school escorting model, essentially doubling escorting tours.
  • Kept calibration constants from SANDAG’s CT-RAMP implementation
• Status
  • To do in the next few days:
    • Another pull request after fixing scheduling issues
    • Add/adjust calibration constants (potentially) in another pull request
    • Merge with new develop branch and pass tests
    • Document

  • Implement in SANDAG

Follow-up on questions related to timing and versions from August 11 meeting:

• What is the reason for introducing this model at this time to ActivitySim. Can we wait to roll out a version that includes this model until we can re-estimate? Will this be part of a new version?
