ℹ️ Updated to qgis2fds 1.0

This wiki page contains a detailed description of all the input parameters of the most recent qgis2fds release.

Parameter Description Example
FDS case identificator (CHID) Set the name of the FDS case; this string is used as FDS case filename and as HEAD and GEOM namelist identificator IDs. case string
Save in folder Set the destination folder of all the exported files of the FDS case. You can also use a path relative to the *.qgz file ./fds_case path
Domain extent Specify the geographic extent of the exported terrain on the map canvas. By clicking on ... you can choose the extent of one of the existing layers, the map canvas extent, or select the extent with the cursor on the map canvas. Any selected point
Desired resolution Set the desired resolution in meters of the exported terrain, if required by interpolating the DEM data. 10.0
DEM layer Select the layer containing the digital elevation model of the terrain. US_DEM2016 layer
Landuse layer Select the layer describing the landuse of the terrain. US_200F13_20 layer
Landuse type *.csv file Specify the path to the *.csv file, that translates the Landuse layer attributes into the FDS case SURF boundary conditions. ./Landfire.gov F13.csv path
Fire layer Select the vector layer containing polygons of ignited and burned areas. fire layer
Wind *.csv file Specify the path to the *.csv file, that contains the FDS WIND speed and direction. ./wind.csv path
Domain origin Specify the geographic location of the origin of the FDS case reference system. Note that if you click on the ... button to the right of the Domain Origin field then you can use your mouse to click on the location within the scene. If overlapping, you may have to move the Export terrain dialog first. If not set, the terrain extent centroid is used. The domain origin coordinates are specified in the FDS MISC namelist of the exported case file. Any selected point
Texture layer Select the layer that should be exported as terrain texture. If this is not set, the current map canvas view is exported. OpenStreetMap layer
Texture layer pixels size Set the desired resolution in meters of the texture map. A larger value is coarser resolution. We suggest using values around 10 meters per pixel. Higher resolution images may not load from the texture layer provider (eg. OpenStreetMap or Google Maps) and this will cause the terrain export to time out. If not set, the desired resolution is used. 1.0
Max number of FDS MESHes Set the maximum number of FDS MESHes that are splitting the domain; this is used to allow parallel calculation. 16
FDS MESH cell size Set the FDS MESH cell size in meters, its IJK is calculated accordingly. 10.0
Export FDS OBSTs Export a terrain made of FDS OBST lines, instead of an FDS GEOM terrain True
