18MO reimplements the rules of 1846. The draft has been replaced.
Private Company Draft
- Randomize the order of the private companies and place them in a face-up row.
- A player may buy any private company or pass (if pass, then player puts $10 on the first private).
- If a player buys a private that is not first, they must put $5 on each private ahead of it.
- A player receives any money that has been placed on a private (receive before purchase).
- In the rare case that a player both cannot buy any item and has less than $10 allowing them to pass, they pass and the $10 comes from the bank.
The priority deal goes to the player after the one that purchased the last remaining private company.
2-Player Game
The 2-player game follows the structure of 1846's 2-player implementation. The "teleport" ability tokens drop to the map upon game setup rather than when the green tile is laid.
Rule Changes
Starting cash:
- 2 => 600
- 3 => 425
- 4 => 400
- 5 => 400
General
- The companies always run in normal descending order (not reversed first OR like 1846).
- East St. Louis counts as an optional stop.
- First tile lay costs nothing (except printed costs), second tile costs an additional $20 (plus printed costs).
- Each company has a $40/$80 teleport printed on its charter, but these spaces are not reserved like in 1846.
- Mail contract only counts the printed number on the train, not visited stops.
- No trains "hard rust."
The trains are different, but the counts are the same per rank:
- Yellow (2Y/3Y): May be bought as a 2 or 3 (both "phase out" on 3E).
- Green (3G/4G): May be bought as a 3 or 4 (both "phase out" on 5E), last green train is a 3E.
- Brown (5/6): May be bought as a 5 or 6, last brown train is a 5E.
- Gray (7/8): May be bought as a 7 or 8.
E trains (3E/5E) run like a N/∞, in 1846 train parlance.
- None
- Current status is "early playtest." Significant changes to the map and gameplay are expected.
- The teleport abilities are shown in the city names and on the charters. The corporation shown on the city name is removed when it is no longer possible to use the ability there.
