These scripts automate the installation of applications and tools commonly used by professional developers, with a focus on Microsoft and Azure technologies, on a fresh Windows installation.

Install-DeveloperWorkstationEntPro.ps1

This script installs a comprehensive set of development tools and applications suitable for enterprise and professional developers. It includes licensed products such as Visual Studio Enterprise edition, OneDrive for Business, and Office 365 Apps.

Install-DeveloperWorkstationSBP.ps1

This script installs a streamlined set of development tools and applications suitable for small business or personal use. It includes free and community editions of development tools such as Visual Studio Community edition.

Usage

  1. Download the appropriate script based on your requirements.
  2. Open PowerShell with administrator privileges.
  3. Navigate to the directory where the script is saved.
  4. Execute the script by running Set-ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Scope Process -Force then your choice of scripts .\Install-DeveloperWorkstationEntPro.ps1 or .\Install-DeveloperWorkstationSBP.ps1.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts, if any, to complete the installation process.

Notes

  • Ensure that your system meets the minimum requirements for the installed applications.
  • Review the license terms of each installed application before use.
  • For more information about each script, refer to the script files directly.

This script uses Winget to install these packages. If the packages are removed from Winget, as in the case of Visual Studio Enterprise and Pro, the script will need to be updated. The Script currently downloads the latest versions of these products. For things like Visual Studio, or SQL Server Developer, that are tied to version numbers, it will need to be updated to reflect those changes.
