I have been having trouble with my code achiving a similar thing that you are doing but it is intermittently missing joystick center commands using the BMD Arduino Shield.
So I downloaded and ran your code with the exact same problem.
I have changed Arduino and BMD Shield but it is still missing some SDI data. Namely the center command which causes the Pan/Tilt head to keep moving.
Are you experiencing this issue and if so, have you contacted BMD tech support?
