delays diagram

by default all notes are output on the clock grid. this can create a rigid feel to the sequence. delays provide a way to make it sound more natural by giving the ability to delay each voice individually by steps as small as 1/8 of the clock interval. this is done on the delay page, selected by the 2nd button from the right in the top row.

the bottom 4 rows (3 for just friends) is where you set the delays, 2 voices per row arranged this way:

1-------5-------
2-------6-------
3-------7-------
4-------8-------

by default all delays are set to 0. press anywhere to change it. each step is 1/8 of the delay span.

delay span is shared by all delays and determines the actual delay value. the possible range is between 1 and 8 clock intervals. if you have it set to 1, each delay step is 1/8 of the clock interval. now if you change it to 2 you will get: 0, 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 (delayed by a full step), 5/4 (delayed by a full step and 1/4) etc etc.

when the delay span is set to the maximum value of 8, each delay step is a full clock. so if you set a delay to 3, this voice will be delayed by 3 full clock intervals. this can be used to change the sequence or spread voices that overlap too much.

you can also apply swing where a delay is applied to every 2nd step. individual note delays still apply even when swing is enabled. possible swing values are: 50 (no swing), 56.25, 62.5, 68.75, 75, 81.25, 87.5, 93.75.
