Eid Wa7da is a social and participatory intiative that depends on the accumulation of experiences and exchange of information and solidarity between the Syrians and Arabs in their expatriations.
This intiative is divided into several phases: Phase 1: which was started with the colaboration of the "Syrian forum in France" Facebook group. This groupe was established since 2014. The main goal of it was and still to bring ties between Syrian's immigrants in France and to facilitate the experiences exchange between them. Exchange in different topics, including the administration issues, studying in France, finding jobs ...etc.
Our intiative decided to store some of their most important posts, after rephrasing them in our archive of articles (renewed continuesly), and providing it with a search engine.
Phase 2: This phase added some calculation tools to calculate the aid given by the French goverment to the migrants who does not work depending on the situation of each family. this phase is still under development and more tool shall be added.
Phase 3: On parallel with phase 2, and with the collaboration of other volenteers named:
- Baptiste Pelletan
- Panthea Bahiraie
- Dalia Frantz
- Marine Rainjonneau
- c Manco
- Lola Ripoche
- Zeineb Bakhtaoui We added to our database over 1200 words and phrases (in French and Arabic) and divided into grouped to be presented in flash cards, so the user can listen to the spelling of each word/phrase and also check his spelling as well. The development is still on, and more phases should be added soon in the coming future.
Since it was a volunteer work, I decided to choose a technology that I never used before, the purpose is to have a chance to learn something new. The mobile application is powered by Nativescript/Angular 2 (recenlty I migrated towards Nativescript 3/ Angular 4), while the database is powered by Google Firebase. The idea behind choosing Nativescript is to use the reutilize the same code to build an application that runs on both iOS and Android.
The project consists of two applications (User's app, and content managment app), this part is for the user's app:
The splash screen and the main view.
At the moment of writing this readme, there are three sections in this application:
The views of the archive Section.
- Part II: The Guest's section, where everyone can log-in anonymously without the need of a password to read the existing articles without the ability of modifing them.
The views of the French Aid journal and calculator.
The views of the dual phrases presented in flash cards.
The mobile application is developped in Nativescript, while the database used to store the informations is on google Firebase.
The application is based on EddyVerbruggen/nativescript-plugin-firebase and inspired by the application sample presented by Jen Looper.
Other plugins used in this project:
- nativescript-swipe-card (Developed by me :) )
- nativescript-appversion
- nativescript-social-share
- nativescript-speech-recognition
- nativescript-texttospeech
I would like to thank those who were willing to donate some of their free time helping others in this project.
- Mona Heeba
I also would like to thank Issam Ghizlan, who did the first initiative in founding the Syrian forum facebook group in France.
