Creating GitHub branches from Jira

Create and view GitHub branches and PRs directly from Jira issues.

  • add the GitHub App to your account : https://github.com/apps/jira-bot
  • select which repositories you want to create branches in
  • create and view branches in a Jira ticket.

This plugin supports creating a branch with the full issue key, eg. 'SENG-1234', off of the main branch, the GitFlow pattern creating a branch off of Develop, such as 'feature/SENG-1234', and setting a custom branch name, e.g. 'SENG-1234/my-fav-branch'.

  1. Log into your Jira instance.
  2. Click the Apps dropdown and choose Find new apps.
    The Find new apps screen loads.
  3. Search for Create GitHub Branches from Jira and click on the app tile.
    The App Details screen loads.
  4. Click Try it free to start installing your app.
  5. You're all set!
    Click Close in the Installed and ready to go dialog.
