Interviews

the application Just4Giving.

General:

1- "For giving" sounds like "forgiving" when used in spoken language

  • Does it have a precise meaning or is it something that is questionable?
  • Is "Just for giving"? a part of a non-complete sentence?
    A Few examples are:
    • The soldiers could arrest you just for giving me something to eat.
    • And if you rat me out, I framed my psych prof just for giving me a b-minus.
    • Easy to cultivate, the bearded irises, do not require particular cares, just some attention, for giving the maximum.
Evan:
'here is a basket of fruit, it's just for giving not for eating'.
To me 'for giving' could imply that something is meant to be passed on, rather than kept.
But like with your first two examples it can also be less positive,
sounding like 'forgiving' could be a good thing, without the 'just'.

2- Do you have any suggestions for us?

Heidi:
- Search for the organization called Moders voor moeders. https://moedersvoormoeders.be/

Luc:
- I think I have to give something.

Heidi:
- I don't know anything about it because it's not common for me to use these devices,
I can't compare it with other similar applications.

31- What would you add to this application?

Heidi:
- Adding pictures of the goods is useful, especially if there are problems with the language.

Mamé:
- Needer and Giver should be able to chat.
- A Giver should be able to write messages without leaving the application.
- Givers should be able to post comments on posts (this is an extra feature to add once everything is done).

32- What problems should this application try to solve?

Heidi:
- It's about exchanging things, for example:
you need a drilling machine and you want to borrow it or to be able to use it,
you want to use it for a while but you don't want to buy it.
This applies to several objects like goods for babies, tools, etc...

33- Is the confirmation email enough to let you know that your post is registered?

Divya:
- No.

34- Do you think it's necessary to see the picture of the needer?

Divya:
- E-mail is okay.

Needer:

1- Would you like to disclose your personal information or circumstances to clarify to the giver why you are more deserving of the item?

Francois:
- I just want general information about the needer, to be sure he is in need.

2- Do you want to know the condition of the item or it does not really matter since it is free?

Helena:
- It will be really nice if I could know the condition of the item.

3- Are you comfortable sharing your needing statistics (number of items you have received)?

Kareem:
- I don't feel very comfortable sharing my necessary stats, maybe only the application manager can keep these.

4- What will be the best and easiest way to prove you are in need?

Josephine:
- Maybe just saying this or maybe stating what the source of income is.

5- As a needer do you want to post your situation on a website?

Ronald:
- Maybe just a small description of my situation on my profile.

6- Are you receiving help from other organizations?

Nidal :
- No

7- Do you want to have a section on the website for posting your needs?

Sara:
- This is really interesting, but the giver or application manager should be able to distinguish a true needer from a false one.

8- Will you feel comfortable using our app to search for the items you need?

Paul:
- Absolutely!!

9- Is it suitable or convenient for you to contact and get in touch with the donor of the item(s) you need?

Mustafa:
- On a map, it will be easier, but both are ok.

14- What kind of communication do you prefer to have with the giver (with the phone, chat, message ...)?

Lara:
- With a phone call, it's much easier, maybe also using email.

15- Would you like to be able to post a video presentation of yourself to the giver?

Mamé:
No, I don't want to send my personal picture to the giver, my profile's picture is enough to go further with the communication,
or I would just add an avatar or something else like that.

16- What do you expect from this application?

Mamé:
- The needer should easily access the stuff he/she wants and the givers should be happy with the outcome of the donation,
they should be happy to share their goods.
- Needer and Giver should be able to chat.
- The needer should be able to write messages without leaving the application.
- Needers should be able to post comments on posts (this is an extra feature to add once everything is done).

17- How could the giver know that the needer is really in need?

Anthony:
- Asking a user nicely to confirm that would already be a first step.
That will deter a lot of people from signing up.
- You can also make what to person got so far from others public.
- The city of Ghent has a system of an "UiTPAS met kansentarief" that organisations use.
  https://bit.ly/3ePGuTv
- You can also limit signup with a specific unique code,
one that you hand out to people or that organisations can hand out.
- You could print that code on posters also, etc

18- What would you add to this application?

Mamé:
- The communication between the 2 parties should take place very smoothly after the agreement,
when the donor agrees to make the donation to the needer, it would be nice to give the opportunity to chat privately
(but having only 6 weeks, it will be difficult for the team to implement this feature).

19- What problems should this application try to solve?

Mamé:
Donors can give the stuff they don't use and those who need it can use this stuff without paying.

20- Would you like to be able to save your search results?

Heidi:
- Of your own searched items? Maybe if you are logged in and the others can't see it, then yes.
  Otherwise not.
But it could be useful to see if anyone is taking advantage of this system.
Let's say that one could not post more than 5 things he/she needs,
but this implies that the needed can post a message with what he/she needs.

25- Do you want to receive your things through an organization to feel safe?

Rasha:
- it is ok too, contact with the giver is ok as well.

26- Do you think it's necessary to see the picture of the giver?
