Welcome to the RimPocalypse wiki!

Concept

Reimagining RimWorld style play with a focus on automation and systems building. Primary game play will involve setting priorities for pawns in pursuit of survival crafting and base building. Players will be able to directly control pawns for a more action-oriented style of play, as well as use simple logic systems to creatively automate pawns.

Inspirations

Note: Features mentioned here are aspirational, we intend to experiment in combining them to find novel approaches to entertaining play. However, we intend to pursue a fun core game loop with a thoughtfully edited, right-sized amount of features in order to keep play approachable with a minimally steep learning curve.

  • Dwarf Fortress: Priority based AI assignment for pawns, base building, emergent story-telling
  • RimWorld: Same as above, with extensive modding capabilities, addition of systems over time via DLC (and mods)
  • Factorio: Automation, 3rd person direct player control
  • Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead: Complex crafting chains, detailed environmental / survival simulation, proc-gen for Biomes, building blueprints
  • Project Zomboid: Real-time complex survival simulation, modding capabilities
  • Caves of Qud
  • MelvorIdle: Simplifying game mechanics from more complex games in to simple mini-games
  • dotAge: Quirks, meta-progression of unlocks

Status

Currently pursuing Minimum Verifiable Fun (MVF) feature implementation.
