DC Input

The PvBrain card requires* to be powered with 12V.

It is planned to use Step Down to acquire the 5v and 3v3 voltages, but it is also possible to introduce these voltages from external sources separate having common GND via the DC Input ports (the 12V of this port and that of the jack are connected.).

Important

Before plugging your components onto the PvBrain, start by installing the fuses, then adjust the steps downs if necessary (5V first, then 3v3.).
Once the voltages are correctly set and controlled, the modules and the ESP can be connected.

The 12V input is directly connected to the 12V to 5V step down without fuses.

  • For this reason, I recommend adding a fuse 3A max on the 12V input upstream of the PvBrain.

Tip

I also recommend installing a switch to easily disconnect all power from the card.

F9 is the 5V fuse, using a 2A fuse is sufficient.
F8 is the step down fuse 5V to 3V3, a 1A fuse is sufficient.
F1 is the 3V3 fuse, a 1A fuse is sufficient.

Note

  • It is recommended not to exceed 1.8A max at the step down output.
  • Data for information only, although it should be suitable in most cases, the fuses must be adapted to your needs according to your own configuration.
  • 12v is not obligatory, no internal component uses this voltage.
However, certain devices (depending on each individual's configuration) may require it.
