About this module:

This module was created for the The Tundzha Regional Archaeological Project, based at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. The module has been designed for intensive and systematic field survey (in a grid). This module can be used not only in Bulgaria, but anywhere around the world where the same methodology of intensive survey is applied.

This module was co-developed by Adela Sobotkova at Macquarie University and Petra Hermankova and Christian Nassif-Haynes at the FAIMS Project, Department of Ancient History, Macquarie University & Aarhus University.

This module contains the following FAIMS features:

  • survey data recording in a grid
  • dynamic design based on number of walkers and the size of the surveyed area
  • tracklog and coordinates from internal GPS
  • attribute-level timestamps
  • photo capture from device camera
  • validated fields with user observations
  • controlled vocabularies

This module can be used with no or minor modification for:

  • intensive surface field survey in a grid - Mediterranean style
  • mapping the exact location of archaeological remains
  • ground-truthing of archaeological remains
