There's a bug where copy operation copies our dataset in ASCII when the destination folder has a "." in it (or maybe a different special character) which renders it unreadable in the Editor by default when it is untagged - possibly ZSS Copy API problem exposed by Editor?

Is it this? This is about files but you said directories.

this controls what the auto-encoding will be for a file based on extension.
