Dvd will use 1/2 of a fully charged battery after being used for an hour or two. Does it need to do that. There is a browser extension for firefox, Video DownloadHelper, that will get every file specified, no matter where it is. It's originally written for Linux firefox. Maybe the maintainers of DVD could look at that, and adapt the methods used. There are many video files DVD will not download. And websites are able to disable its functionality. I use a vpn. So, the sites are not identifying my IP. You can contact the author of Video DownloadHelper at https://groups.google.com/g/video-downloadhelper-q-and-a
