Hi there - it is best to use USB-C/DisplayPort if possible, the HDMI port of the Studio is optimized for TVs (the M2 Studio is a little better in this regard though). With the Air, you are limited to 3072px max horizontal HiDPI resolution (it's a hardware limitation for non-Pro Apple Silicon Macs). You can check out the max resolution under Display Information... for the display under Settings/Displays. |

Have a weird problem...
Wife has a Studio, Sonoma, 4K HDMI cable, to a 34" 3440x1440 monitor. When I click HiDPI mode, it won't stick. So, I used the option to create a 1 pixel shorter version and the 3440x1439 works fine in HDMI mode.
Wife's sister has an M3 MacBook Air, Sonoma, and the exact same monitor as my wife. Connected first with the same 4K HDMI cable but also tried Thunderbolt 4 to DP cable. On her computer, when I pick 3440x1440 and hit HiDPI it flips to 3062x1282 and looks fantastic... but this is only 89%. If I use the option to create the 1 pixel shorter version, I never see 3440x1439 in the list of available resolutions.
(Also, on my wife's Studio her options are all 8bit and on the Air they're all 10bit, but I think that's because the Air is using Thunderbolt/DP right now and Studio is HDMI, right?)
Any ideas what I could be missing or doing wrong?
