Had a go at getting a v2 app off the ground after seeing the Reddit post. Great job, it was quick and easy to get a functional app going. However, it seems as though the API doesn't have feature parity with v1, obviously this is beta, but I couldn't find options for (eg) Tray menus. Am I looking in the wrong place, and if not, is it planned to bring these missing features to v2, or is v2 intended to be a less feature rich, but streamlined version? |

I was looking at the "featured example" of xbar, which I admit to not studying carefully enough to see that it was importing v2 (I assumed it was v1 in part because it is for Mac). Yeah, perhaps I could have made that clearer somewhere, but xbar was built using an alpha version that got pretty deep into the features for Mac. When it came to porting those to Linux and Windows, it became clear that it'd take quite a long time to do: I'd essentially be boiling the sea. After seeing quite a lot of issues being raised about modern frontend frameworks dumping IE support, it was important to address the Windows situation as quick as I could. To ensure I could do this in a relatively timely manner, I chose to drop menu trays and context menus from the v2.0.0 feature list. This would also mean Linux would be done quicker. This all being said, those features aren't "dropped" - they will be worked on as a priority after v2 is released, with context menus being the first (Microsoft only just added the ability to modify the context menu of WebView2 in the last month and I'd like to see what that might mean). @leaanthony my app is running under v2.0.0-alpha.73 and is using tray menu, therefore if I would update to the latest beta version I have to remove tray features as far I can understand ? If so I will try beta version on different branch only to support windows for now. |

v2 beta 3 had an issue with Vite (possibly other bundlers too) where Vite recompiling would trigger a reload of the webview, which would result in the requests to the Updated to beta4 to get the timing bug fix, it seems to be much worse now. The previously described issue was intermittent, but now it is consistently getting Is it possible for the webview window to use this localhost url instead when running in dev mode? If I recall correctly, Electron has similar issues trying to serve static files in dev, and so in dev mode it will usually serve the localhost server to the chromium window instead, and reserve the file protocol for production/build |

@leaanthony this covers all cases of connecting to wails app in the web browser (using either builtin server or external like vite). I spent more time tinkering with the runtime/websocket ipc stuff to see if there was any way to get it working without my manual webdriver async stuff, including revisiting older versions before I started suggesting changes and making PRs. My realization is that the websocket IPC has always been a race condition that likely never manifested itself. I'm in the process of reworking the

This is a lot, and my main concern is that my current suggested changes have left master in a non-desirable state until everything is all worked out. I'm also concerned about eating a bunch of your time with this and bringing about changes that you may not agree with. However, I do believe this would be very beneficial. For now I'm just pushing forward with an optimistic goal to have this done by the end of the weekend. |

No worries. The great thing about the internal server is that we can actually control the order of events. I suggest that you consider the following:
We know when ipc is ready in a websocket sense because the webserver will know it has sent it. Potentially we customise the ipc code sent so it sends back a This might be a hardcore solution but at the end of the day, all requests will come via the webview2 component which we control. |

I tried
Which looks like only the runtime loader is embedded and users still need to download/install the run-time. How can I embed the runtime in a way that nothing needs to be downloaded nor installed? I think that should be possible as well: WebView2 Runtime can be distributed in two modes.

Embed just embeds the installer like you say. We don't currently support fixed but if you work out how to do it, please raise a PR. I should also add that you won't get a single binary, you'd need to ship a sizable amount of files (i think it's about 150M) with your binary. I should also add that the runtime is installed by default in Windows 11 so the desire to ship duplicate runtimes with your app is pretty low. |

Enterprises are not yet migrated to Windows 11 and this can take considerable time. The runtime seems to be around 80 MB (which is a lot of course). However, within in an enterprise environment things must be kept super simple, no user interaction, no installations, etc. The simpler the better. |

I've pushed the timing bugfix for websocket connection - it now attempts to connect immediately. I also wrote a bunch of code for injecting the scripts via an HTML AST but hit a snag. As I'm writing this I think I know what's up. Until then, let me know if this fixes your timing issue plus if you ARE able to break it, that would be amazing. Please try as that would be a huge help in testing the reorder of js files 🙏 |

wails version: v2.0.0-beta.28 I compiled a EXE to run on windows 2012 R2. In your winc, it used "GetDpiForSystem" to get system dpi. but it only supports version above win10. |

It means any bugs related to Windows 7 won't be looked at. Any new features won't be tested on it. It's an EOL Operating System. If the project happens to work on it, then that's great. If there are simple PRs to keep things working on it, then that's great too. But if any PRs interfere with win10/11 operation then it'll just be dropped with no work arounds. |

This is a bit new to me, so what would that look like? I was under the impression that build tags were really only used to determine which files get included in the final build. Would it be as simple as having a single file that gets included with the production build that contains a variable assignment or something else that can be referenced elsewhere? I agree that something in the runtime would be very beneficial indeed! Has a ticket been created yet or should I do that now? |

Hi, On the GO side it can be solved, but on the WebView side I'm fighting with the corpo. proxies. The current solution is a different network for the devices running Wails apps. I tried to hack some sort of baked in proxy settings on linux, but I'm not there jet. :) How do you guys feel about this, is it possible to plan a proxy setting for the Webview in the future? We do the API requests, websockets, video downloads etc. in GO, however We show images from a CDN based on those request and its a bit tedious to download the images in GO, base64 them and push them to the ui. Both the ui and the GO code gets complicated very fast, that's all. |

When you use a frameless window you're saying that the user should not be able to resize the window as the window manager will not add anything to allow the user to grab and resize the window. You'll either need to dynamically resize the frameless window based on changes triggered in the application, or switch to a normal window so that users can resize the window. |

Hmm... Just seen this. We did add some code to support resizing frameless but there's a chance it doesn't work on Linux. @znbang can you please open a ticket? |
