Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
The current AppImage binary available isn't ideal because of:

  1. No auto-update support
  2. Probono's anti-Wayland stances
  3. No Wayland/Qt 6 support (because of linuxdeployqt limitations)

So I think there should be an official alternative to AppImage binaries 🐸

Describe the solution you'd like

Snap would be one option, but its vendor lock-in and poor other distro
support isn't great

So I would suggest Flatpak 📦

Flatpak is a nice cross-distro packaging solution with a stable environment: https://flatpak.org

Here's some more info on it: https://docs.flatpak.org/en/latest/introduction.html
And a packaging guide: https://docs.flatpak.org/en/latest/getting-started.html

I have contributed quite a bit to 2 Flatpak packages, so I can help with packaging this application

It would be nice if it was submitted by an official developer of this app so it could be verified (but that might not be possible)

I was already planning on moving to Flatpak when I saw how painful everything around Qt6 was last month (cc #352) the lack of wayland support is especially annoying considering that now it has become mainstream.

Unfortunately my time budget for OSS contributions is limited and I have been busy with other projects lately and not being a Linux user this isn't an area I'd personally focus on (I'm planning on backporting some of the stuff that's in the refactor very soon).

Contributions are very welcome :) once we have a usable package, me or @loveemu can submit it to flathub
