Describe the Feature

It is difficult for students taking quizzes with extended time to easily tell if their quiz time has been extended. This feature would display both the student’s time limit with and the time limit without extension.

Use to Other Institutions

As there does not appear to be another way for students to verify their quiz extension has been added, I would assume it would be useful to students at all institutions.

How it Would Work

For example, a 15-minute quiz for a student with an accommodation for double time would appear as:
Time Limit: 30 Minutes (Extended from 15 Minutes)
For Example, current a quiz would display as:
time limit
With the feature added a quiz would display as:
time limit extended

Implementation

This is not a feature that I would be able to implement myself, but would be available for consultation.

Hey @dustincwood, thanks for the feature request!

I definitely agree there needs to be an easy way for students to tell if they've been given additional time.

Unfortunately, the proposed solution can't be done by the Quiz Extensions tool, as the sections in the screenshot are controlled by the Canvas LMS, and not Quiz Extensions. To have Canvas display the time limit like that, you'd have to make a feature request with Instructure. There may also be a way to achieve this by uploading custom javascript to your Canvas instance, but the solution would be clunky and I wouldn't recommend that.

That said, we have had requests in the past to display applied extensions within the tool (see #4), and a similar feature for students might be possible to implement. Do you think a student view for Quiz Extensions would work?

Hello @Thetwam,
I've added a feature request to the Canvas Community, thank you for the suggestion.
I think a student view for Quiz Extensions would be very helpful! Anything that allows a student to check that their time has been added to their quiz before starting the quiz is a step in the right direction. The easier the navigation the better.
