This could easily be made a .deb file for easy installation including the init.d script. The instructions to set it up make it feel like it's beta not a 2.0.0 release.
I understand it's java jar file, so this guide would help. http://blog.noizeramp.com/2005/08/31/packaging-java-applications-for-ubuntu-and-other-debians/
