'Group by date' does not work

As the title says, the "Group by date' option doesn't work although the inbox type of gmail is set to "default" and the option is activated in the inboxy settings. However, group by label works properly. Are there any other settings that I should set in gmail? I'm on Firefox v101 on Windows 10.
