URI too long failure after login

After login to JIRA, I can't get anything to work properly. I am being bugged by a 414 URI Too long error. Unable to even navigate the menus properly, let alone open an issue or log time.

You might be able to get around the issue by opening the settings and deselecting some less important projects / statuses. By default, the workflow enables them all but if you have a lot of projects and statuses that can be problematic because the Jira API limits the query string to 2000 characters. In this issue I've supplied a way to check the length of your query string if you want to give that a shot.
