Feature Request: Add Log Rotation #692
Comments
Hey @tewner, thanks for the suggestion, we really appreciate it! For now I feel like this is probably a bit of out of scope as we try to keep statsd as small and lightweight as possible. We log to stdout/stderr so you should be able to pipe our logs through to something more purpose built for this. I think you'd probably get better performance and reliability that way as well. If you're in linux I'd suggest taking a look at something like multilog which would do this for you really well. If you're on windows then I'm sure there are alternatives, but I've not really done much with windows in production. I'll leave this open in case people disagree or want to make a case for adding some functionality in, however for now I feel this is something that's being done better by other tools. Thanks again for the suggestion though! |
Hi!
Can you please look into adding Log Rotation into StatsD?
Perhaps configurable by file size. Even better, add something a-la MongoDB, where sending a SIGUSR1 command rotates the log file.
Thank you!
