Bolt is using a fake token consumption algorithm, they banned me in discord for addressing it. I have made a YouTube video to prove it

The Bolt closed my message in #help without even responding, it was not help but i believe it is UNFAIR that your team is using a fake token consumption mechanism. Anyone go ahead and type something in Bolt.new that goes against "AI safety" it will refuse the prompt but consume tokens, WTF. (how because it did absolute nothing, only token usage is that little "I apologise as an AI....(yapping)"

Another reason to justify this is that i had 9K tokens in one instance and asked Bolt to restart my whole project with a different approach and it did it, which shouldnt be possible with 9K.

And I dont think it has been mentioned clearly ANYWHERE that the token consumption is not real, clearly you guys dont respect your customers.

And I use Cline (Claude Dev) a lot so i am very familar with how much tokens a prompt should use.

And the fact that you deleted my message from the #help channel, without even f*cking responding justifies my case.

And those who will say "Bolt is open source, how is the alg fake", reality check buddy the LOCAL version is open source not the enterprise/production version

yeah bolt is nonsense it stops working after a few small things done then starts trying to rewrite entire project its obvious tokens arent real becuase ever since its creation people having missing tokens amongst other things all these red flags are adding up and im canceling my sub and going back to gpt until theres another solution that actually works.

This isn't a token consumption is not real issue. It's an issue that each page gets rewritten instead of doing an edit. Bolt is great for a very simple project. But it is an alpha product. Hopefully, it will get better.

Yeah, that's it. It's everyone who doesn't know how to prompt. Yet on every other similar platform, this is not an issue where it is a known issue that it re-writes the page every time, consuming millions of tokens. But it is the user.

Yes so a good solution is to modularize your code. This gives shorter code-files. Tell Bolt "Modularize the file [filename].tsx" and it will do the honors. This is how good code is written anyway, in small short single-purpose files. Then focus the edit on the file in question to balance cost vs benefit. I am using Bolt to manage quite complex projects with considerable success as a result. In any case it's an early-stage technology so we can't expect the world from it just yet.

Solid product i understand its still early days but has the issue of re-writing entire pages of code been fixed? as its literally draining a lot of tokens, maybe using the aider.chat approach can create a lot more confidence to use this long term for more complex projects.

The amount of tokens I wasted on it recreating new code, and sometimes duplicate files of the same thing and then mixing them up when doing updates and specifying filenames and things was...yeah, tokens down the toilet.

And good god supabase integration just destroyed my tokens. I figured it wasn't going to be good but I should have given up on that way sooner.

I have often felt this way when it comes to token usage. when prompts start eating up hundreds of thousands of tokens and my money is just disappearing and its making no sense I feel like...yeah....not so much.

But, I try to give some grace. Its hard for me to really know how much context is being used in this type of environment. Or perhaps they still need to implement some more efficient methods of handling stuff, or give us ways to remove items from context for prompts.

For now I don't think I'm willing to scream SCAM. It's a new company and they wouldn't want or be able to survive that kind of controversy. So lets assume positive intent for right now and encourage them to make improvements.

It's ridiculous to read that people think there is a scam or anything untoward. Bolt is a new technology that has revolutionised the builder process for all users. They are working tirelessly behind the scenes to improve and make this product its best. With any new product and being some of the first users, we will feel it evolve and token usage is one of their top priorities to improve for their users.

Think of it like this... how much would you pay to have a website designed and developed and deployed for you if you asked a freelancer or an agency and I bet you it would 100x what you are spending on tokens right now.
