Please support drmcnelson's open source work helping underfunded scientists around the world.
Talent is found everywhere, in underfunded universities, small colleges, even outside the system. entirely, and certainly not just in elite universities. But access to doing science has become a privilege, one connected to status and funding to buy instruments and build facilities. This project aims to restore some equality to who gets to do science and even more, who gets to design amazing experiments with sophisticated instruments.
We design instrumentation circuits and sensors, at a professional level and with decades of experience, using open source tools, and we post them to github along with the software and source code to operate them.
Most scientists can build these circuits or have them built for very little money, either by hand or simply send the files to a pcb assembly service such as ALLPCB or PCBWay, etc. The cost is is often a small fraction of the price of an equivalent commercial instrument.
Our project is just getting started. But already, our designs are gaining attention and some are even used in course work at universities.
Please do support our work. We hope to make the world a little better.
