Steps to reproduce:

  • create new account on solidcommunity.net
  • see the "Your stuff" screen with a green "plus" button
  • I wanna create a thing, so I click the plus button, then, say, the "tracker" button
  • I get this:

and that leaves me wondering "ok, so sounds like I need to create a workspace. how do I create a workspace then?", but I couldn't find that anywhere in the UI.

One thing to fix is that the error message could include a documentation pointer (like "this is what a workspace is and how you create one"), and the UI should allow you to create workspaces.

Now that I look at https://forum.solidproject.org/t/address-book-new-group-problem/235/5, sounds like workspaces were started but never quite finished. So might be good to maybe not make this half-broken view not be the default screen.

I am marking this as high-priority because it is often a user's first experience of Solid since it's the first thing in their Pod they see. It was raised in the forum again today.
