Currently the pipeline could use any reference lamp but that's not true because it requires the solution to be in the pipeline's custom mode. However it is technically possible to use any lamp as long as it has a wavelength solution.

Reference data should be unbinned, otherwise it will add too much complexity to the code. However the use of binned data should still be an option.
