adjust focus area

In the documentation it says that "The position and dimensions of the focus area can be adjusted by the editor in the backend to mark the crucial area of the image."

I cant see the focus or the cover area in the backend - only the variants.

For me it seems to be missing a sys_file_reference.php file to override the TCA?
