Hello. I would like to use Hyper-V with FreeDos as I cannot have both VirtualBox and Hyper-V enabled at the same time. Alternatively I am looking for any other safe to use emulators that won't mess too heavily with my setup.

Thank you.

All of these questions would be better put to the FreeDOS user mailing list at https://freedos.org/forums/. But, to help you get started...

Hyper-V is not one of the virtual platforms that is tested. However, as long as it supports operating systems that require a BIOS and is not just compatible with those that can boot using UEFI, I do not see a reason it would not work.

As for alternatives, it depends on your needs. One such alternative is DOSBox (or DOSBox Staging). Either version works great for playing older games and supports many games better than VirtualBox or other VMs. For example, it supports very old games that only use the PC Speaker for sound.

For a more complete DOS experience when using DOSBox, you can install FreeDOS inside it. By default the FreeDOS installer does this in "hybrid" mode which uses the DOSBox kernel along with the FreeDOS command shell and all of its uitilities. There are several videos on YouTube that can walk you through the process. It is not very difficult.

Some other alternatives are QEMU and 86Box.
