On Windows, shared data is c:\ProgramData\YourApp. I am not sure on other platforms. It would be great if your library provided a path that would be appropriate for a log file that is shared among all users.

Other operating systems does not offer a shared writable directory.

Even worse. *nix based systems requires special handling when writing to shared files to prevent security issues.

I want the folders returned to be safe by default.
