I am not sure how exactly Shortwave and Amberol (and other applications) accomplish this, but when you look at them in pavucontrol (and gnome-system-monitor, etc.) they show up with their nice simple name and with their app icon:

However, Reco does not:

It would be nice if it could do that too :)

A hint taken from the same kind of report in Firefox, although I don't know if this is still the best advice today in the world of PipeWire:

we need to use pa_stream_new_with_proplist, and use pa_proplist_sets with PA_PROP_APPLICATION_ICON_NAME, and an icon, that depends on the shortBrandName
