This issue is to be used as a forum for exploring ways to port the module to Lua, with my primary concern being avoiding rewriting the whole thing and managing two different codebases.
Currently, I foresee two options that at least partially fit this criteria:
Use another script to convert the written Python code into Lua code, a la this,
Instead of rewriting the whole thing into lua, rewrite it into C, and then write two interfaces, one for Lua and one for Python
Both of these require a lot of work, so this is low-priority. Feel free to suggest better methods, or discuss whether or not this is a feature worth implementing; vote for or against with your reasons why.
