Each year we spend a little time reconciling our platform data with Stripe. It's always come out correct, but does take our treasurer a while to review. Additionally, as we're now a registered charity we'd need to show the records to any independent examiner or auditor.
Being able to have a clear and concise export of data that gives us confidence everything looks right would be really useful to demonstrate compliance and proove everything is working correctly. We could then also run this process more regularly if it was fully automated (e.g. check the books line up every day, rather than just every few weeks).
It's probably useful to speak with the current treasurer about what reconciliation they need to see. I think mainly we're looking for some data that shows:
For each donation, the sum of payments matches the figures on the donation
For each fundraiser, the sum of donations matches the figures on the fundraiser
When summing all paid card payments, this matches our Stripe revenue
Any 'cash' payments are accounted for
We get a clear readout on how much money we owe different charities and chapters
