I'm guessing the use of a 76-character ID is as a fingerprint for security so you know you're adding who you think you're adding, but it makes it impossible to give somebody your ID over phone or another voice chat, making it harder to easily add someone, or have someone add you, without being able to copy/paste the long ID into a chat or email to them. Discord's system of username@#### works very well for this, and it would be ideal to have something similar in qTox.
