VLC not opening on iOS

I just installed ani-cli on iOS with iSH + VLC.

When I search for an anime and then play an episode, after the links are fetched I get prompted with "Tap to open VLC". VLC doesn't open up at all when I tap on the message. The terminal just clears and shows "Playing episode..." with the 6 options (next, replay, previous, select, change_quality, quit) without opening VLC.

I think it has something to do with VLC not being able to handle x-callback-urls for iOS but idk. Any help would be appreciated!
