When seeing the new precise movement tool I had a couple ideas for how the UX could be improved for it.
This is based mostly on the move tool in blender, which has 2 features that I think would be a great fit here.
Both of these rely on the move tool to be triggered by a shortcut (
G
in case of blender). The move tool will start a pseudo-drag operation when it is triggered via shortcut (objects act like they're dragged, but the drag operation will end once the left mouse button is pressed or the enter/escape keys are pressed).Selecting the active axis through
X
/Y
keysI think being able to restrict the movement to an axis would be pretty useful.

Accept keyboard input for the active axis, when one is selected
This is probably one of the features I use the most, it allows me to move stuff by precise amounts without ever having to touch my mouse. So some keystroke combination like
Shortcut to bring up move tool
->X
/Y
to select axis -> type out pixel value with number keys ->Enter
to commit orEscape
to cancel & rollback.Screen.Recording.2025-01-20.at.11.45.29.mov
