docker compose plugin not found

Description

Hi, if i try to install paperless-ngx I get everytime an error:
docker compose plugin not found. Is docker compose installed?
I tried the installation with dietpi and debian 12. It seems that the script gots a problem with docker-compose 2.5. I installed paperless with docker compose 2.4.5 one week ago and it works. But I don´t know how to downgrade to an older docker-compose version.
Docker was in all systems installed. At dietpi with the repository and in debian with commands.

Have you confirmed it is in fact installed correctly? docker compose version. The script just tries to run it, the script is not known to be broken. Also the most recent version of compose is 2.26.0

It is only possible to install docker v 2.26. Docker compose is only possible at version 2.25.
If I use
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install docker-compose-plugin

I only will get docker compose 2.25
If I use the repository i got the same. Is there another way to get?

I think that should be fine but that should work, the script literally just checks for that

I found one way how it works. Maybe you could explain me. I tried:
root@DietPi:~# cd /dev/null
bash: cd: /dev/null: Not a directory

and if try after that to switch to user paperless and use your script it works. But only one time after the next reboot it doesn´t work until i try the same way. Do you know what´s my fault?

I have to correct me. It works only some minutes.

Sorry I think the language barrier is making it hard to understand, but I think you should lookup a guide on how to install compose correctly. That’s step number 1 (and doesn’t really have anything to do with paperless)

Now I found my error. I was in the directory /root. In this directory its not possible to start the script. I think that was possible in the past. If I change directory to another one e.g. /dev (and set rights 777) it starts without problems. Thank you for your fast support. This fault was a little bit tricky.
