This is a very useful library, but like everything else, it needs maintenance to resolve issues, merge PRs and ensure the continued success of the mission.

It seems there is a small group of people maintaining this library, with no obvious foundation or backing.

What avenues are available for an individual or organization to sponsor this library?

Adam Hyde, Paged.js Founder, reached out and shared ways to donate to the project, managed by CommitChange. It is linked from the bottom right tab of the pagedjs homepage:

Follow-up questions:

  1. The Coko Foundation, the mothership backing Paged.js, seems to have a pretty good size team. How direct are donations via that link in terms of going to the Paged.js project? In other words, how much of a donation via this method is routed to maintenance of Paged.js vs other foundation overhead?
  2. Would it be possible to add sponsor logos to the README page?

I can say that most of the tools (if not all) developped at Coko have paged.js inside, so anything going to Coko for pagedjs will go to paged.js in the end.

Those two questions need to go to Adam @jboarman

@julientaq Adam responded to me via email regarding how sponsorship funds are routed, which he said is fine to share here:

The project has 2 coko people dedicated to it, both part time. The total cost is about 80k USD a year. We will have to start fundraising I think as the 80k direct overhead isn't easily maintained by us. We pay for it by surplus from our custom platform builds (all open source as we are a not for profit).

The pagedjs donations actually go to a separate bank account and is building up a small reserve so we can perhaps segue one of the part timers off the coko books and pay them from this account. So, overhead is currently completely absorbed by us and administered as part of the larger coko team.

I hope that helps :)

^^ Thanks to Adam for the transparency. This is great to see and really helps build trust in the team behind this project.

👍 Thanks for bringing this back here. i’m trying to get some time for pagedjs this week as it needs a bit of love with the 0.5b1, including a whole lot of documenation work, and this bit will definitely be a part of it.

A PR has been pushed via #190 to incorporate updates to the README on how to sponsor per discussion with Adam.
