I’m supporting the repo for the Open Travel Alliance (opentravel.org) for travel industry message standards, message samples (XML and JSON), and travel objects (models). We built a modeling and repo management tool along with a schema complier 10+ years ago. We’d like to move the repo management function to GitHub. We want to avoid a rewrite of the open source tool we created to adopt a default file structure compatible with GitHub. This tool is in Java using mostly JavaFX and can run on windows or Linux. The resulting file structure is windows like. I’m looking for guidance on if and how I can set up a repo in GitHub where I can force the file structure to be what our tooling expects it to be. Or at least as close as I can get it to reduce the recoding effort. This would allow our modeling and complier tools to work “as is” but use GitHub to manage the repo (pull requests, etc..).
