Hello!

openSUSE Leap 42.2. wicked 0.6.39.

wicked --help command lists the brief info about wicked's syntax. In particular here is arp [options] <ifname> <IP> string in Supported commands list, which is not described in man-page man 8 wicked.

Personally, it's a lack of documentation -- because it's unclear a little bit without a brief example, when arp command should really be used.

They are (or were in the meantime) used internally to preform IPv4 duplicate address detection and send garps to announce IPs according to the CHECK_DUPLICATE_IP and SEND_GRATUITOUS_ARP ifcfg variable settings.
