If I use unbound to handle DNS over TLS, I have no problems running NordVPN on my desktop. If I disable Unbound, and then install the NextDNS client on my OPNSense (FreeBSD) firewall, it works but I get pockets of 10-20 seconds when I cannot resolve names unless I disable NordVPN. If I leave it running, it will eventually come back but it does this constantly.

It only happens when using NextDNS CLI on the firewall. If I use Unbound to proxy to NextDNS via DNS over TLS, it works without a single hiccup. If I disable NordVPN, and use OPNSense with NextDNS client, I have zero issues as well.
