The idea was to give a more utility-based core, based off the PT-16, so it has at least some use in at least a Llama. The PGSS isn't really an outfit anyone uses for a long time, so if it's balanced based on that, it's just going to end up being another junk outfit. I've done the following tweaks though:
So while it's worse stat-wise than PT-16, it should have better utility and hopefully make it into courier-type builds. Although I think only ships like the Schroedinger or Llama could probably make a good use out of it. How does that sound? |

Summary: the story still seem kind of forced, to turn a homebrew processor into a complete system core
past issue: #736
file/missions in question: https://github.com/naev/naev/blob/main/dat/missions/neutral/diy-nerds.lua
Since accessory is a thing now (173db0b), it might be worth reworking the reward back to a coprocessor or just keep it as it is (nerd's homebrew box), as a token of the mission
or otherwise, it might be better to rebalance it against PGSS, as story wise, it sound much closer to jury-rigged mess of energy and coolant supply with their 'Homebrew Processing Box' rather than an optimized purposed built system core
