Convert various log messages to formatted strings

slog has introduced a "formatted" version of logging statements. You can now inline some variables into strings, just like format!() strings.

(e.g.

debug!("Found a {} in {:?}", &str_value, some_array):

can be expressed as

debug!("Found a {str_value} in {some_array:?}");

)

We should consider using this format for consistent string formatting and presentation.
