I have an issue with...syncing to Readwise.

Here's the error message:

There was a problem sending your
highlights: received a non-200 status
code from Readwise: code 500

System Details
  • Version: v1.8.0
  • Platform: darwin
  • Architecture: arm64

Hmm, a 5xx (500 and above) code would indicate an issue on Readwise's end rather than something that October is doing wrong.

Would you be able to send a copy of one of the latest log files to [email protected] so I can see what might be going wrong?

You can find it connecting your Kobo and then going to October's settings page. Near the bottom is a button to open the folder containing the various log files.

You may also just find this resolves itself in time depending on what the actual issue is but it's still be nice to see what the returned error was anyway.

I received some logs from another user about this issue and it seems that it may be due to October trying to send an empty batch of highlights through (which should technically be a 4xx issue rather than 5xx but anyway)

The issue, which may or may not be the same here (I can't tell without logs from the reporting user) was due to October marking highlights as being from store-purchased books, even though they aren't.

As a result, October tries to send an empty batch of highlights which causes Readwise to return a 500
