My opinion is the same as what I said before. I like the Github Discussions implementation and have found it attractive and user-friendly over the past few months of using it. Exactly the opposite of the current CI forum where every moment after entering I decide to hit the close browser button 😂. But the reality is that its implementation is a bit complicated, although I think it can be implemented with the help of Cell and Htmx. I don't know where the final decision will be, but I want to remind team that one of your goals for implementing the new forum is to get out of the current situation of the CI forum. I think backwards compatibility (MyBB , table ...) should not cause us to lose the modern implementation.
It looks good on paper. |

I agree that the GitHub style threading works nicely. I think @michalsn suggestion for how the replies would work makes perfect sense. It manages to combine the GitHub style with a Facebook style and I think that would work great. Since the current CI forums are not threaded I think we can proceed without concern for those posts. |

Should the post be displayed in a linear way or should we introduce the post threading?
As mentioned here, by @lonnieezell, the most reasonable is to allow only 1 level of threading.
Pros:
Cons:
If we want to introduce it, I think we could do it similar to this:
parent_id
isNULL
