Documentation structure for translation

I want to start translating the documentation into multiple languages, but I have the same question that came up here:

Can the structure look like this?

I had doubts because of the existence of the translations/ folder and the change in the file name in this commit:

82c8c09

before it was:

docs-site/
└── content/
 └── docs/
     └── getting-started/
        └── tour/
            └── index.fr.md  

and was modified to:

docs-site/
└── translations/
    └── tour-fr.md    

I'm thinking: "this should be the correct format for translations", if I'm wrong please correct me.
