Currently synoptic maps created by Spencer cause problems in the annotation phase. This is because they're created using some computer program and have different properties than the hand-drawn maps. I believe the ORB detector step picks up on completely different features and has trouble constructing the correct homography matrix.

Here's an example of what happens:
