Is Jungle Bus dead ?

It is no longer available on Google Play. Is there a plan to let it die or maintain it again? Is this app still useful?

Have a nice day.

It's been 'gone' for a while, no official announcement that I have seen. I use StreetComplete for adding details to bus stops and OSM Go aka "Mapping less frustrating!" for adding bus stops.

Hi @Binnette, hi @timothywashere,
The Jungle Bus project has always been about improving transit data within OSM.

The app was a great part for achieving this goal, providing a simple, mobile way to map a very specific type of data: the bus stops. Nevertheless, maintaining the app, even with an iso-feature level, requires a permanent budget, due to rapid technology evolution. More specifically, the Mapbox SDK that was used in the app evolved so much that even a small change in the app would require massive time.

The Jungle Bus association stopped its activity 3 years ago. Since then, we did not invested more budget into this app.
Our partner Jawg that developed the app removed the app from the Google Play Store last month, with no more budget to maintain it.
We apologize because we know that you and other contributors (including me) use this app on field and that we don't have any alternative at the moment.

On an other hand, Jungle Bus corporation has been created 3 years ago. It has been involved in developing a lot of helpful tools to help OSM mappers improve the transit network data. We listed all useful tools for transit on the page https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Public_transport/Tools
In complement, I agree with you Timothy, Street Complete for Android or OSM Go for iOS are mobile app alternative that you can use.

I hope it helps.

Is that the source code of the last published version? : https://github.com/Jungle-Bus/osm-contributor

Hi, the Jungle Bus app was a fork of OSM contributor, yes.
Have you any plan to fork? It would be great!
