  1. printf "%s" "$(cat)" sed should be able to read from stdin just fine, so this looks entirely useless
  2. Your wrapper doesn't seem to handle files passed via argument

change it to sed $'s/\u2010/\u002d/g' "$@" | moar and see if that works.
