<dr|z3d_> there's an argument to be made for implemented a dht for search, messages etc..
<HypnosisI2P> i have removed it. need to check whether commits are away from main3
<HypnosisI2P> it=seedless servers support
<dr|z3d_> dht would store users and messages to offline users (in the event the sender goes offline)
<HypnosisI2P> relaying... mitm might modify messages
<dr|z3d_> the idea being I can send a message to you, and if you're not online, users in my list get an encrypted copy of the message, and when you're online, you receive message from DHT and then message is removed.
<dr|z3d_> shouldn't be mitm possibilities if end-to-end encrypted.
<dr|z3d_> think bote, but more ephemeral.
<HypnosisI2P> its additional layer of encryption
<dr|z3d_> sure.. worth thinking about, though. could be a very useful feature. just send a message and it gets delivered when user comes online. no need to stay online for delivery.
<dr|z3d_> the simpler alternative is to locally cache messages that are sent to offline users.
<dr|z3d_> so if I quit my client, when I restart my unsent messages are requeued.
<dr|z3d_> as it is, the offline tab in the chat window makes very little sense.
<HypnosisI2P> local cache (outbox) seems to be present. unsure about client reboots
<dr|z3d_> if client reboots, messages are lost.
<dr|z3d_> at least, afaik.
<dr|z3d_> the offline tab probably needs to be nuked, in any event. confusing and doesn't seem to do much of use.
<dr|z3d_> and the text formatting icons.. they need to die, too. all we need there is a send button for file transfers, and support for basic markup a la Skype, as discussed with R4S4S
<dr|z3d_> global font prefs for local and remote (both). the font handling is just messy.
