It would be nice to have some way to create drawers where the open and close button is the same element. This helps create a sense of global navigation consistency. Currently, even when a close button is placed in the exact same place as the open button, we still get a jarring animation of the button sliding down into the same place. See apple.com for an example of a shared open and close button.

I think this could be achieved by either providing a drawer or navbar system with this capability built-in or could be achieved using the current drawer system with the ability to offset its position. Offsetting it's position isn't ideal though because then we have to assume a fixed navbar height. I also considered trying to set my nav bars z-index to higher than the drawer's, but was unsuccessful in getting it to show up above the drawer.
Edit: was able to get my navbar to show up above by setting it's zIndex to popover.
